What examiners usually ask

• Write the sandarbha, prasanga, anvaya and Hindi vyakhya of the given shloka
• Identify the chhanda of the shloka and define it with its lakshana
• Write from memory any two shlokas from the prescribed poem and give their meaning
• Write a short note on the poet and the source text of the lesson

Exam tip

Mark the chhanda from the syllable count first (anushtup has eight syllables a quarter) and practise anvaya by numbering words in prose order; a neat anvaya followed by sentence-wise Hindi is what examiners look for in vyakhya.
